How to take holiday pictures by yourself
Some people associate going on vacation with taking a break and rest. Others want to see as many interesting places as possible. There are also those who can't do without taking a thousand photos. And that's a good thing! Photos bring memories, and while it's important to enjoy the moment, it's equally relevant that we can share them with those who are not with us at this moment. However, what if we take a solo trip? No problem. Even if you are a solo traveler, you can take very good photos that you will not be ashamed to put on your social media.
1. Invest in some accessories
To take nice holiday photos of yourself you don't need to spend thousands on expensive equipment. As you've probably guessed, you don't need much of it either. The current cameras on phones are already completely sufficient, although the camera will always have the advantage of a larger and better-built lens - the phone still wins out due to the fact that we simply always have it at hand.
There are a huge number of accessories available on the market for taking not only selfies, but also photos that look like they were taken by a professional. But what will make it very easy? Certainly a stable tripod of high quality. Here it is worth paying attention to its workmanship, so that it will certainly hold the equipment and be fully safe for it. Nowadays you can take advantage of remote controllers, or special apps for your phone. This will certainly make it easier to frame and focus! You can also use accessories such as a selfie stick for the famous arm selfies.
2 . Good light is key
The least suitable time to take photos is around noon. That's when the sun is at its highest, and it's difficult to capture the subjects being photographed. As a result, photos are burnt out and don't look very interesting, and strong, contrasty shadows appear on people's faces, especially around the eyes and under the nose, spoiling the effect of even the nicest shot.
If you decide to take photos in the sun, make sure that the light source is opposite you. This will ensure that your face and body are clearly visible. After a little practice, you can start experimenting with the light.
The best landscape photos and portraits are taken when the sun is just rising or setting. In photography, these moments are referred to as the golden hours. Why is such a low sun the best? The sun's rays pass through a thicker layer of the atmosphere at that time, which causes additional scattering and filters out blue light. The sun is soft and warm, and you get a striking, interesting golden glow in the photo.
If you don't have the opportunity to shoot during these hours, you can increase the color saturation or use the harsh shadows cast by the sun and convert the photo to black and white. Great effect guaranteed!
3. Diversify your frames and take lots of photos
While on a solo trip, don't limit yourself in the number of photos you take! Also remember to take photos from different perspectives. Invest in a gorillapod that you can carry with you at all times and whenever you see an interesting place - take a picture. If you're using an iPhone, turn on live photo mode so you can choose the shot where you look your best. Experiment with other features on your phone too, such as wide angle. Take a photo from different heights and angles, which will give you maximum choice and a wide range of photos from your solo trip.
Remember that photography, even among beginners, is all about your creativity, not your skills or equipment. You will certainly need some accessories and basic knowledge, but remember that it's your vision that matters.
